Hello all!
The following is a brief update on what your children will be doing in the classroom
Open court: This week they will be reviewing the sounds and skills they learned throughout Unit 6, Journeys. They will take their bubble test assessments on Tuesday. By Thursday we will begin Unit 7. In Unit 7 your children will begin taking pre and post spelling test. I will send the words home on Monday. They will have the whole week to study the words and take a post test on Friday!
Everyday Math: Your child will be reviewing Chapter 6 on Monday and Tuesday. They will have their test on Wednesday. We will be moving into Chapter 7 that begins with Attributes.
Science: Over the course of this week and next we will be wrapping up our unit on the Moon and solar system. When we return from spring break we will be learning about insects!!!! Yippee!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Reminders: Please check your child's folder daily.
-Spring Sing is Wednesday at 8:30 followed by a brief reception in our classroom for all of our family and friends.
-Each family is asked to bring one snack. Remember, we are a peanut-free classroom

Don't worry my friends....I have tons of pictures that I need to add from the past two weeks. I have been really busy getting ready for conferences. Please post ideas, messages, and other important information that will be helpful to me as well. This will be a quick and easy way to communicate. The success of our children is due in part to the communication and strong link between home and school.

- I am your first grade teacher. This is my second year teaching at Mann. Before I came to this school I taught preschool for five years! I also ran my own summer camp for five years! I hope we will have a lot of fun learning and growing together this year!!!!
Important Information
Please check your child’s mail folder daily. I send home many notes and stoplight forms daily. (I will explain the stoplights at curriculum night, they will not begin until then.) I do need each child’s stoplight form on Monday morning from the previous week. These will be in your child’s portfolio in order show progress throughout the year.If you have not had a chance to yet, please send along a 3 ring binder so that I may organize a portfolio for each student.
The art teachers have asked that I remind each child to bring an art smock to art class each Thursday. If your child does not have one yet, please send an old shirt along that can remain in their locker and used for art.
Also, please send along clean gym shoes that can remain in your child’s locker and used only for P.E. class.
It is very hot and humid in our classroom. I encourage children to take as many drinks from our water fountains as possible, we have two in the room. Please make sure your children drink plenty of water before and after school. I would just like to prevent any possibilities of dehydration.
Additionally, please leave all toys, stuffed animals and Webkinz or anything else of value or importance at home. The lockers do not have locks and the children tend to leave their locker doors open. I do not want anything to happen to their personal objects while at school!
